Going to a new place can be exciting and frightening, even for people who have a lot of travel experience. Before you book your trip and pull out your luggage, look over these tips and advice, it should help make planning your vacation a lot easier. Save time and take some of the stress out of vacation planning.

Be sure to pre-plan your trip if an airport is involved in your travels. Major airports can be difficult to get to because of long traffic delays. Pack up all your suitcases the night before you travel. Before your travel day, make sure all of your preparations are taken care of. If you miss your flight, you will have to take a later one. This might create problems with your itinerary.

Do not bring anything valuable that you will not need. If you decide to bring valuables, you could lose them, or they could even be stolen.

When you are going to some type of attraction, print online tickets in advance. The small fee per ticket for this service is well worth it when you consider the lines that you can avoid. If the amusement park has a timed entry system, you can enjoy that benefit from buying tickets online.

Bring clothespins on your next trip. Clothespins are not a typical travel item for many people, but should be reconsidered given their usefulness and versatility.

If traveling by air, it is important to think ahead of time. Many of the major airports are situated in and around big cities, so you need to plan ahead to avoid any delays, especially during heavily congested periods like rush hour. Pack your suitcase the night before. Before your travel day, make sure all of your preparations are taken care of. Missing your flight is something you do not want to experience.

Hotel etiquette calls for tipping the bellhop and housekeeping staff. For bell hops, tip a dollar for every bag they carry. With housekeepers, leave between two and five dollars for every day they care for your room. You can almost guarantee that you will have a pleasurable stay by doing so.

When traveling by air, be sure to wear light shoes that are extremely comfortable and easy to kick off. You may need to take your shoes off during security checks. Being comfortable is the most important thing. When you are in the airport or on the airplane, you will sit more than you will walk, so having good arch supports is not the most important thing. The best shoes for flying might well be sandals or flip-flops.

Create a list of the items you need to pack. Your list should be made well in advance (7-30 days) and should include all of your necessities. Even last minute packing won’t be as stressful, when you have a list to reference. It will also take the panic out of forgetting anything.

Learning Experience

Make travel a learning experience for you and your family. Even developing countries can be perfectly safe if you plan carefully for safety, and it’s an awesome learning experience for your children. Spending time abroad is a great way to build an understanding of, and tolerance for, other cultures.

You should always have a good photo of your child on you when you travel with him or her, just in case the two of you get separated. Not knowing your child’s whereabouts is frightening. Though it certainly feels devastating, it is a reality for many. Having a photo of your child handy in case they get lost in a crowd could end up making a huge difference.

Sort out your desintation’s visa requirements as quickly as possible. Make sure to get your applications in early, since paperwork can take awhile to process. Keep in mind that you can’t enter some countries without a valid visa.

Visit the websites of major airlines, and sign up for their email newsletters. These types of e-newsletters give you vital information regarding special discounts and last-minute offers that is only available to subscribers. Yes, these e-newsletters may mean more inbox clutter, but the savings you can receive make it worth it.

If you are a visitor to foreign cities, keep your eyes open for thieves that might be dressed as law enforcement or government personnel. You should never give anyone your original passport no matter who they purport to be, or you could end up stranded in a strange land. If you are made to go to an office, do so by foot. Always use common sense and never accept a ride from a stranger.

If you can use something from this article, chances are you will find more excitement and adventure than ever before on your next vacation. No matter if you are a seasoned or inexperienced traveler, your trip can be more wondrous and memorable than you may think.
